Additional history:

Inigo arrived at Final Destination City in awe of the new and unfamiliar sights... also, the pretty girls. There were so many pretty girls. He enrolled himself in Smash Academy to, y'know, get to know some of these fine ladies better - and even managed to score a sort of date and some cake! These were tremendous successes. However, he managed to blow it completely by trying to sneak into the dance club and making a complete spectacle when he was discovered. Everything turned out okay in the end, but it definitely was a humiliation he wasn't going to live down soon. After making a mysterious pen pal and discovering some sort of tiny Outrealm gate to a bath house, April 20th rolled around. Back in Ylisse, the baby princess Lucina's birthday was to be a grand celebration in the capital - Inigo wanted to go back to visit his parents for a spell, and to see his sister, both the elder and infant. But when he got home, he discovered the Lucina of his timeline was nowhere to be found. She hadn't returned home for the occasion - in fact, she had more or less dropped off the map completely, eluding the royal family's attempts to find her.

Olivia pleaded to her son to find Lucina - after all, he must've known her better than any of them, having grown up with her. Unable to refuse his mother for anything, Inigo agreed and put off his return to Smash in order to travel the continent with this mission. It was a near impossible errand though, and he had nothing to go on except hunches.

But in the midst of his search, he found something else. Out of nowhere, a sudden window opened up in time and space, revealing a terrible sight: the school he was at just months before beset by a horrific invasion of monsters and this nebulous, purple... something. Whatever it was, it looked evil, and it was spreading unabated. The portal shimmered, obviously unstable and liable to close at any second - Inigo only had moments to choose whether to stay his course and continue looking for Lucina at the cost of leaving another world to be menaced, or to leap back into chaos.

It was hardly a choice at all. The mercenary leapt through just as the window closed, and found himself back at Smash Academy.

Personality Changes: Nnnone.

In-Character 1st person sample:

This all escalated rather quickly, didn't it? I swear I only just left, and now there's swarms of evil purple... stuff terrorizing cute schoolgirls. Maybe I can score some points with a beautiful damsel in distress. Oooh, she might even fall for me if I fell a few dozen of these!

But seriously, what are these things made of? They certainly don't die easy. Purple better not stain, 'cause it's not really my colour. And the sky...

It's like Grima all over again...

In-Character 3rd person sample:

Lucina... oh sister of mine, where on earth are you?

When he saw her last, Inigo had a feeling that she wasn't entirely her normal self. It was only the vaguest of impressions back then - nothing ominous enough to set off his alarms - but he did get a sense that despite the victory against Grima, a melancholy grew within her more and more as the peace returned. Really, he should've known she'd do something like this. Despite how different they were, their motivations were sometimes surprisingly similar. Neither of them belonged in this world, and no matter how close they wanted to remain by their parents' side, it wasn't their place to intrude on the lives of their younger selves. Too many questions would be asked if they stayed, so it was best not to arouse suspicion and go their own way in the wide world they had won in their struggles.

But still... to leave and disappear without a trace, as though you never even existed? That was too much. The Shepherds had managed to find Robin after the tactician disappeared in the final battle, but even they couldn't locate the missing princess. Half of them guessed that Lucina must've returned to the future, but at the onset of their journey back in time, she'd already said such a thing would be impossible. So what, then?

The best theory Inigo could come up with was that perhaps she was in one of the small, remote villages that, in their timeline, had become the last human outposts for their dying army. Familiar enough locations that no one except them would possibly know about. It was a starting point, at least - something to help reassure their worried mother.

Inigo had no doubt that Lucina could take care of herself. She was a skilled swordswoman, the crown princess and his sister. But the idea that she could've simply vanished and left him behind... no. It wasn't fair. They went through too much together for him to accept that she'd never come back.
